The ‘No’ Muscle
“Develop stronger boundaries by practicing saying ‘no.'”
(Maximizing Your Potential: Essential Growth Tools)
We all know that we have to work out a muscle in order for it to grow. It has to stretch and tear, and it only strengthens and develops when we flex it. It’s no different with our boundaries. The ability to say “no” is like a muscle, and that muscle must be flexed for it to grow stronger.
Most of us struggle to say “no,” and it isn’t easy to let others down. But we all have to say “no” sometimes, and all of us probably need to say it more. And, like any other muscle, the more we use it, the more efficient it becomes. Your ability to say no is a muscle in your character, and if you want a more chiseled character, then you need to flex your “no” more often.
Growing stronger, side by side!
