Be Effective

“Learn to connect emotionally, beyond the superficial.”
(Maximizing Your Potential: Essential Growth Tools)

To be affective is to stir the emotions of another person. To really affect someone else, we must probe beneath the surface, pluck a string in their heart, or touch them deep in their soul. So much of what we do only causes effects but doesn’t often cause “affects.”

Affects are emotions and feelings. And, if you want to really be affective, then you must do more than settle for the superficial. You must connect with others on an emotional level. This means finding ways to get below the surface and beyond the shallow where emotions are buried and feelings run deep. It’s in these places that we become affective.
